A ski jacket has several functions: it must protect you from the bad weather which may occur when you are skiing (rain, snow, wind…). The membranes and coating selected by Fusalp provide you with optimal protection while ensuring excellent breathability. The cut of the jacket must be adapted to your practice and your size. Make sure you try on the jacket wearing the underlayers you’ll be wearing when you go skiing.
The Fusalp jackets are designed by stylists who specialize in ski wear: the ergonomics is thus carefully designed for this activity (pre-shaped sleeves…) The fabric must be waterproof, moisture repellent and breathable.
- Impermeability is measured in Schmerber mm: the higher the number of mm, the more efficient the membrane. Select an index higher than or equal to 10 000mm. To optimize this function, the jacket’s seams must all be watertight.
- watertightness is the capability of a fabric to resist water penetration. We recommend choosing the maximum index (100 points)
- breathability is measured in gr/m2/24hrs: the higher the number of grams, the better the moisture transfers. Select an index higher than or equal to 8 000 gr/m2/24hours You may also decide to choose mono or bi-stretch fabrics which will provide more comfort. Choose the thermal supply based on your sports activity. For intense activity, select a jacket which is not padded or very little, that gives you the possibility to modulate the thermal supply (adding or removing intermediary layers during the activity). For other types of activity, choose a padded jacket to ensure maximum thermal supply. The intensity and the conditions in which you practice your sport will determine the choice of accessories for your jacket :
- Thermo sealed seams reinforce your jacket’s waterproofness. They can be partial or total
- The Lycra® hood and muffs will be a real plus in the event of bad weather.
- Air openings must be placed in strategic areas and be sufficiently large to ensure proper ventilation.
- Snow-proof skirt: assembled on a stretch yoke, it provides additional comfort.

- Pockets (mask, ski-pass, phone, MP3…) must be easy to access and have a size adapted to their content, and close with zips for more safety. Second layers provide a variable heat supply depending on their thickness and the chosen fabric.

- evacuate sweat

The Seamless Technology is a manufacturing process which enables us to make seamless garments. It eliminates rubbing or irritation when practicing a sport and provides the garment with outstanding capabilities to extend.

Fabric
The primary criteria for the choice of technical underwear are:
- extensibility
- breathability
- odor control

The Meryl Skinlife® bacteriostatic microfibers maintain the natural skin balance: the presence of silver ions at the core of the fiber ensures durable efficacy against bacteria. The primary criteria for your purchase are the following :

- the fabric must above all be waterproof and breathable, and be a good compromise between resistance and light weight

Size
Choose a lightweight and compactable jacket which does not take up too much space. The Fusalp jackets which have the Quickpack system are ideally designed for hiking: easily compactable with their incorporated pocket, they don’t take up much space in a backpack. You should make sure of the following :

The cut must be large and comfortable. The product must have an elastic belt or a simple and efficient fastening system to ensure maximum comfort during effort

Fabric
Choose preferably technical fabrics, with polyamide or polyester and processed for moisture transfer. You may also select a mono or bi-stretch fabric which provides more comfort.
